Marking attachments (matrix and patrix)

Preparing the marking of attachments

1. Make sure that you have added all required objects (matrix and/or patrix) to the blank.
2. Prepare the objects:
   1. Check for incorrectly marked drilling ranges and cavities.
   2. Mark all drillings ranges.
   3. Mark all cavities.

1. (Optional) Select the desired object in the blank display.

• DentalCAM highlights the object in the object list with a colored border.



 

2. Open the editing functions for the required object by selecting the following icon in the left column: 

• The icon bar for the editing functions is displayed.



 

3. Open the editing function for marking attachments by selecting the following icon:

• In the left column, icons for marking the attachments display. In the blank display, DentalCAM hides all elements except for the selected object.

Marking the matrix

1. Start the workflow by selecting the following icon in the left column: 
2. Move the view so that you can see a good portion of the inner contour of the matrix.


The view has been adjusted so that the relevant part of the attachment is in clear view

3. Continue by selecting the following icon in the left column: 
4. Select 2 points on the wall:
1. Click on a point on the inner contour of the attachment.
• DentalCAM marks the selected spot with a green ball.

2. Click on a second point on the inner contour of the attachment.

   Position the second point so that the 2 points lie on surfaces which are perpendicular to each other.

If you select a point that doesn't lie on the contour, DentalCAM won't be able to calculate the contour correctly. As a result, the object will not be machinable, and you will have to mark the attachment again.



The first point has been set, the second point still needs to be selected (possible location marked orange)

5. The following happens:
1. DentalCAM marks the second spot with a blue ball.
2. The blank display changes to top view.
3. DentalCAM calculates the shape of the attachment and marks it accordingly:
   • Turquoise balls: The section is part of the attachment.
   • Black balls: The section is not part of the attachment.


DentalCAM has calculated the area of the attachment, however, the result is not perfect (see orange markings)

6. If necessary, correct the shape of the attachment Select a black sphere to extend the area to that sphere. Select a turquoise ball to reduce the area to this ball.

   Your goal is to mark an area with the turquoise balls that is a bit bigger than the attachment.



The area of the contour has been corrected. It is a bit bigger than the contour itself.

7. Finish the workflow by selecting the following icon in the left column: 
• The following happens:
1. DentalCAM re-calculates the shape of the attachment based on your input.
2. When the calculation is finished, the attachment is marked in yellow.

8. Save your changes with the lower arrow icon:

9. Close the area for the editing function with the upper arrow icon:

Marking the patrix

1. Start the workflow by selecting the following icon in the left column: 
2. Move the view so that you can see a good portion of the contour of the patrix.


The view has been adjusted so that the relevant part of the attachment is in clear view

3. Continue by selecting the following icon in the left column: 
4. Select 2 points on the wall:
1. Click on a point on the contour of the attachment.
• DentalCAM marks the selected spot with a green ball.

2. Click on another point on the contour of the attachment.

   Position the second point so that the 2 points lie on surfaces which are perpendicular to each other.

If you select a point that doesn't lie on the contour, DentalCAM won't be able to calculate the contour correctly. As a result, the object will not be machinable, and you will have to mark the attachment again.

   Make sure to also mark both radii at the sides of the attachment.



The area of the contour has been corrected. Both radii have been properly marked.

7. Finish the workflow by selecting the following icon in the left column: 
• The following happens:
1. DentalCAM re-calculates the shape of the attachment based on your input.
2. When the calculation is finished, the attachment is marked in yellow.
