Import dentalcam 8 data

Users upgrading from dentalcam 8 can import discs or material settings from their dentalcam 8 installation into dentalcam 9. It is not possible to import blocks and prefabricated abutments.

The material settings assigned to the individual materials in dentalcam 9 are adopted, not those assigned to the material groups. Optional tools, for example, are not included. For an explanation of material groups and individual materials in dentalcam 9, see Material settings.

Prerequisites

To import discs, the following applies:

You do not need dentalcam 8 and dentalcam 9 while the import is in progress. Depending on the size of the archive and the data transfer rate, the import of discs may take more than 1 hour.
There is enough storage space available on the drive where dentalcam 9 is installed. After the import, the data takes up many times the original amount of storage space.

Open dentalcam 8.
Recommendation: To import discs, delete all discs you no longer need. Use the following icon in the dentalcam 8 blank archive:

The fewer discs you import, the less time the import process will require.
Close dentalcam 8 and leave it closed until the import is complete.
Open dentalcam 9.
Open the dentalcam settings with the following icon in thesystem menu:
Select the Program settings tab.
In the Import section, select the following icon:

A window opens.

Select the check boxes for the data you want to import.
To import discs:
1. Confirm the message displayed by pressing OK.
2. Navigate to the Archive folder in the dentalcam 8 installation folder The folder on your hard drive that you installed dentalcam and dentalcnc in..

3. Select the Select folder button.
4. Start the import by clicking the OK button.
To import material settings:
1. Confirm the message displayed by pressing OK.
2. Navigate to the dentalcam 8 installation folder The folder on your hard drive that you installed dentalcam and dentalcnc in.
