Key concepts and features

DentalCAM & DentalCNC are job-based applications. A job contains all the data required to machine a blank: the 3D data of the tooth model, blank parameters, machining strategies and more. When creating a job, you start with specifying the material that you want to use, the blank size and other basic values.

In other dental applications, terms such as “case” or “order” may be used instead of “job”.

Blanks in DentalCAM & DentalCNC are the virtual counterpart to the physical blanks which you mount into your machine. Our machines can process blanks made of all common dental materials.  Materials

Our software uses adapted strategies for every blank type for processing.

Restorations are referred to as objects in our software. An object contains the 3D data of 1 restoration (e.g. 1 crown).

The different types of objects (crowns, bridges, veneers etc.) are referred to as indications or simply object types.

DentalCAM needs to know the correct indication for every object to calculate the correct machining strategy for it.

Once you have specified and positioned all objects in a blank, DentalCAM must calculate the correct machining strategy for it. The machining strategy is optimized for the object types and the blank type that are used in the job.

The DirectMill feature allows you to start machining a job while it is still being calculated. That's why jobs almost immediately display in DentalCNC after you started calculating them in DentalCAM.

The tools which are used for processing are automatically chosen by DentalCAM depending on the used machining strategy.

• You can activate optional tools in DentalCAM to improve the quality of the manufactured objects or to increase the processing speed.
• DentalCNC lists all tools that are required for a job and allows you to manage them.
